Item Description:

Includes ONE glass top display box.

This bronze coin was struck by the Carthaginian Empire, an informal empire that began in Northern Africa as the Phoenician city-state of Carthage. From there, it expanded its territory along the Africa coast and even reached the shores of modern Spain and the Italian peninsula. However, their glory was soon put to an end by the Romans in a series of conflicts known as the Punic Wars.

Tanit, the primary deity of the city of Carthage, is often seen on coins like these, as are symbols such as horses and palm trees.
