The Newark Daily Journal, also known simply as the Newark Journal, was a significant newspaper published in Newark, New Jersey. The paper began its publication on December 9, 1861, with its Vol. 5, no. 32 issue and continued until it ceased on August 21, 1887. Initially established by Edward N. Fuller, the newspaper underwent several changes in publishers and editors over the years. From 1861 to around 1864, Edward N. Fuller served as the publisher, followed by the Newark Printing and Publishing Co. from around 1865 to 1871, and then William B. Guild from 1872 to around 1876. Edward N. Fuller and Joseph Atkinson were among its notable editors. The Newark Daily Journal identified with Democratic principles and was also available on microfilm as part of the Civil War newspapers collection. After its cessation in 1887, it was succeeded by the Newark Journal.
