  • Notes: This coin is a fourrée, an ancient forgery designed to resemble a solid silver coin. However, it was made with a copper core and plated in silver. Counterfeiters produced these coins to mimic the appearance of genuine silver currency and profit from the deception. On this particular coin, the thin silver plating has chipped in places, exposing the copper core beneath.
