Item Description:

These copper solidus coins were produced in Poland during the reign of John II Casimir (or Jan II Kazimierz Waza), who ruled from 1648 until his abdication in 1660. They feature the bust of John II on the obverse side (with the legend IOAN CAS REX) and an eagle or a man on horseback on the reverse side.

Overall, John II Casimir's reign is widely known as one of the most disastrous in Polish history. It was marked by numerous defeats against the rival Ukrainian, Russian, Swedish, and Tartar forces, with Poland losing significant amounts of its territory. John II was exiled to France after giving up the throne in 1668 due to a revolt over royal succession.
