An Illustrated Record of Toyotomi's Achievements (繪本豐臣勳功記) chronicles the life of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a 16th century daimyō who is known as one of Japan's "great unifiers."
Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1537–1598) was a key figure in Japan's Sengoku period, rising from a peasant background to become one of Japan's most powerful leaders. After serving Oda Nobunaga, another powerful daimyō, he unified Japan following Nobunaga's assassination in 1582. Hideyoshi implemented significant reforms, including the "sword hunt" to disarm peasants and the establishment of a rigid class system. He led invasions of Korea, but they ended in failure.
Japanese books are read right to left (instead of left to right) and are bound on the right side, contrary to those in Western languages. The pages may be double layered, and care must be taken to ensure that they do not separate when flipping through. The book must be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of bugs.
This specific group of books is less than half complete, with few consecutive volumes, so we have made the decision to offer the books for individual sale. The series was originally divided into ninety books in total.
Each book measures approximately 9 x 6 inches.
